Micro 355 vs bulldog 400

I'll take the speed of the bulldog. With a 400+ grain arrow the micro bows are not fast enough for my liking.

It sounds to me like you probably had a high lung hit on your deer. This is not really a broadhead problem not having a great blood trail to follow. It takes several seconds for a deer to start leaking blood with a high hit and they can travel quite a ways during those several seconds. People blame blood trails or the lack thereof on the broadheads way too often. If you shoot a deer and hit it correctly and the deer dies within a 100 yards then the broadhead did its job as intended. A heart shot will provide a lot faster and better blood trail than a high double lung shot. A downward angled double lung shot from a tree will provide a better blood trail than the same shot off the ground. Physics...not broadheads...

Thanks for posting this, you are 100% correct. We get many phone calls every year from irate customers who just lost a deer and are blaming it on the broad head leaving no blood trail. It's never the broad head, it's usually the the shot placement. You could get a good blood trail with a field point if you hit the deer in the right spot. We had one guy who used the same head for years lost one deer due to a bad blood trail and switched broad heads.

I was in a tree and the deer probably made it less than 100 yards. The farthest would be 100, but I was thinking about 75.
How high is a high lung shot?
When I shot a buck with my equinox, it left a blood trail as if there was a hose spraying blood all the way to the deer. You think that was a heart shot versus this one just hitting lungs?

Based on your description, I'd put money that you made a heart shot with your Equinox; that was the differentiator in the performance you experienced.

A high lung shot could be anywhere from just under the spine to just under the top of the shoulder. I have double lunged them with the same broadheads and had them leave practically no blood trail and blood trails that looked like a bucket of red paint was poured on the ground. Depends on how high and what you hit going through I guess.

Anytime you get a heart shot (from my experience) from a tree stand you are going to have a very good blood trail.
