Un-stringing/adjusting string on Micro?

Post by Hillcountry »

Anyone fiddled with the Micro (in my case the 355) and an Excalibur stringing aid? I want to put some of the DB Killers on my Micro and have to, of course, un-string the bow...was wondering if this may be a 2 man ordeal or what?
Any info is helpful! I haven't attempted it yet as I just got my stringing aid in today's mail...

Thanks!

Put one side of your stringer on the bow with the string to the inside of the bow. Stretch it out to the other limb and adjust it to where it is about 2 to 3 inches past the limb tip. Side both sides onto the limbs and attach your cocking aid to the string from the stringer just as if you are cocking the bow with the string under the arrow retainer. Now cock it and slip the safety on and remove the string. Then uncock the string aid same exact way as uncocking the bow and you can slip on the DB Killers. Crank her back up, install the string and let her down. Adjust brace height as necessary before shooting again.

If you have not uncocked your bow yet do that a few times before attempting to change strings. :D

So I'm supposed to use the regular cocking rope? I thought I was supposed to just use my hands/fingers to use the string aid.
This makes sense as I feel that might be almost impossible to do bare handed.
Let me know if I'm understanding you correctly.. Thanks!
By the way I have not tried un-cocking the Micro yet...

I grabbed cocking string to pull back to latch and it almost threw me into wall on my Micro 335.lol
My fingers hurt like h..Then I used the cocking stringer and DID NOT tie double knot on each end after adjusting it and it slipped and bro string..MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE KNOT IT..I now put Paracord 550 string on it and its GREAT...

Okay...all went well thanks to the good folks on here who are more than willing to lend a hand to a brand new Excalibur owner. My DB Killers are in place on the limbs and the process is now a reality for me. With the string aid adjusted properly it was very easy to cock and let down the limbs. Couldn't have done it without your help!
A BIG thanks to all who answered and PM'd me! I really appreciated it!

Thank you!
It may seem like nothing to unstring a crossbow to some but truly, this Micro and it's tiny, formidable limbs was really a concern to this newbie...now that the job is done, I understand the little powerhouse a lot better and the fear of the unknown is now a distant memory. Now I have mastered the process and feel better about maintaining it and enjoying it.

Is Danny's stringing aid any different/better than the stock one?

Thanx,
Good question, as I have the stock Excalibur one...Once it was set for the correct length for removing the string it did it's job...I have no experience with any other ones...

Danny's is MUCH more heavy duty. I prefer it.
