6 Hogs Down And Season Ends..

I just returned home yesterday from Ms. my son and i finished of the last 2 weeks of this hunting season with 6 hogs down. This past bow season we noticed the pig population was really growing on the 900 acres of private land we hunt, we managed to drop 6 during bow season, but more was needed to be removed. So we dedicated the last two weeks of the season to remove as many as possible.My son with his 308 Tikka bolt, and me with my Browning 7mm Hi Wall single shot, both fitted with scopes and green night lights. There is 12 food plots and various other stands with feeders. After we checked all the cameras on the property, we noticed most of the activity was at night so we worked with the lunar chart and the cameras for the hours of our hunts. And it paid off fairly well. With two Boars one 160 pounds, the other a big nasty 300 plus, and four sows two being pregnant 250 pounders which was a added bonus. I'm sure we helped some with population control, we intend to do another hunt this summer, to further reduce their numbers. I know the local Baptist church down the road as always will be grateful, we have probably donated 2,000 pounds of pork this season. From a nuisance to food... Smile. That's awesome! I've never had the opportunity to bow hunt hogs, do you guys eat them? I've had wild hog before and I've got to say it was awesome! They brined it and fried it like what doesn't taste good fried.

Hog meat is great! I prefer 200 pounds and under for table fare, but if caught alive and short pinned for a month or so larger ones an'it bad, either corn or soy bean as feed. If cooked right, wild pig is a winner.
