boltcutter broadhead

I shoot spitfires now but i always used the boltcutter broadhead before honestly i loved it its one of the best for bear but in my thick swanpy woods i needed a broadhead that left a bigger blood trail on a buck. .I cant help but wonder why excalibur cant give more variety . I mean keep the current boltcutter head but offer a one an a quarter inch cut in the same weight head also or maby a slick trick 4 blade version . Interloc makes all kinds a stuff but not in 150 grain . Even their x act cut why not offer at least a 125 grain option for a diablo that does not have brass up front. I would certainly buy n try a larger cut boltcutter.

I'm just setting up a new Xbow and am thinking about the 125 gr Spitfires.

Used the 100 gr in my vertical and loved them.

How do you like them?? And how have they flown/performed??

Spitfire is a tried n true head ...shot deer n turkey with it only lost one buck to a high shoulder hit (my bad) . They fly like a field point. I think the spitfire n ramcat are the no. 1 head right now on the forum . I found out the ramcat is made in china like a schwacker that turns me off a little. But im temped to try them .

I'm thinking that if they increased the blade size, accuracy would suffer.JMO. I found that if you aim just a touch lower the blood trails increased dramatically.

Slick Trick makes a 150 grain 4 blade crossbow broadhead. They flew great out of my old Vortex.

The 125 grain Spitfires are my main Go-To, for several reasons.
I have never lost any animal hit with them, they create huge holes leading to wide blood trails = short recoveries. And they fly amazingly accurate right out to as far as I am willing to test them (90 yards!).

Give them a try. It is entirely likely you will end up liking them!

I lack a spitfire to , test.
I have tested a boltcutter unintentionally vs a generously proportioned hardwood tree behind a deer that ummm, jumped or ducked or maybe just stood or laid there.
It packs an impressive penetrating wallop!
I strive for no funny business shots on deer but am confident cutting an extra rib would not slow it much. No interest in greater bone but most any individual bone would be broke at closer ranges I believe.
Not cost effective for poking into trees but they sure will poke well.
Trying to put one below the centerline of a chest cavity to kill with.
Expect a variety of factors to determine blood trail but want a kill shot first.
I can track well shot dead deer usually.

I do have 125 spitfires on a list for a friend to consider when setting his bow up...if he wants to go mechanicals. He was leaning that direction.
Slicktrick 150's are another on the list if he wants to go with a fixed blade. 150 boltcutters get mentioned too due to seeing the ones tree impact result..

I have taken 7 deer in 2 seasons with the 150 slick tricks out of my M 380. 15 to 40 yrd shots all impressive kills. They are a no fuss simple BH, sharp and very strong. Sounds like the 125 spitfires would be the way to go if you chose a mechanical BH. Never hurts to try a few and see what works best in your setup. Good luck n happy huntn!

Bolt cutters always worked for me and I would not change to anything else.
Only had one deer go more than 30 yards after the shot.
Placement is much more important.
