Post by Sloppy Does »

Anyone shooting the stock quills out of there micros at 350 gr? I'm shooting 374 gr zombies and was curious how they shoot since I have never shot one through a micro.

I shoot stock quills with the factory bolt cutters. I have no problems with them. Shoot the same hole at 20 yards.

i tried them at 350. it may have been because i was new to the bow but 375 grouped better than 350 or 400 for me. and since the spitfires im shooting are 125 its a no brainer.
i'm sure custom arrows would shoot better groups at longer ranges but i can touch fletching at 50 and all i do is screw on the tips. why mess with it.

I started a thread not too long ago about the accuracy of the 350 gn Quills. I found at 20 yards they didn't group that well with 100 gn points. I tried 400 gn. 2219's and the accuracy was fantastic.

I noticed the same. The quill at 350gn don't group well enough for me (2 inch at 20 yards). They group well with the 150gn field point but I am hunting using Ramcat 100gn. With Zombie slayer at 385gn (100gn point) the accuracy is amazing.

When I purchased the micro 335 it came with 4 quill shafts and I was already thinking of replacing them. My exomax never liked the flat nocks and shot way better with a half moon type nock so I figured I would get new arrows for the micro. I also shoot 100 gr thunderheads out of my exomax and bought a bunch a few years ago on sale so was wanting to keep the same head. I wasn't sure I wanted to shoot so close to the 350 min. but I was excited and wanted to shoot so I put the thunderheads on the quills and was getting in the 356 to 358 gr weight for the arrows. I decided what the heck and shot them to see how they flew. Well even though I new better with the exomax I shot the first 2 arrows at the same dot at 20 yards and of course hit the first arrow dead on ruining it. The thing is a tack driver at 20 yards. I then shot at 30 and 50 and was hitting the small 2 1/2 inch black dot on the rinehart target near the center on every shot. I went to the shop where I bought the bow and purchased 12 more quills the next day as I'm not going to mess with this set up.
