My Cabin Fever Cure

Post by taz3 »

I'm actually so busy, I don't have time for Cabin fever lol  , but I do miss being on the site and crossbow hunting.

I have to say thank you, to Agingcrossbower (Mike) for more then one reason. His custom stock are outstanding, for taking the time to share his knowledge openly on the site and promptly responding to my PM for some assistance. After seeing his work, I just had to give it a try, so I bought some European Lace wood for it unique grain and ended up with a custom stock. I added Maple tips for fingers of the pistol grip and cut another piece of the lace wood in the opposite grain direction for the fore grip. It still needs a final sand, stain and sealing, but here's a couple pics, I forgot to take pics of my progress

The weight is real close to the original and I made it useable, right or left handed.

Thank You for the Inspiration and Help Aging!

Well done...

Thanks for the kind words, folks. It really is cool to watch it take shape from a block of wood as it transforms to a stock. I think the most challenging part was trying to understand it in three dimension and not cutting out wood that would be needed.

I will be sure to post pics of it completed, I'm debating to just clear it with no stain. I have a couple small pieces left to try different finishes on.
