Gearing up for Turkey
Getting things together for spring Turkey.
Fletched some 19" zombies for the Micro.
Attached the 100gr magnus bull heads. Total weight with-out lumenoks will be 418gr.
The Micro 335 will be my bow of choice for turkey. I will be hunting with no blind & the camo limbs & light handling will be the ticket for Turkey. Scope on the way so I can sight them in (this week I hope)...

Very good Jeff!
One thing to think of though is, using longer Fletch with those large heads will steer better for a shot past 20 yds.
We did some testing a while back and made some for a member here who uses the same.
Using a 4" fletch with a little stiffness got way better accuracy past 25 yds.
Your's will work fine, just may float a bit past 20 or so yds. Remember your trying for the head and neck, very small target.

Re: Gearing up for Turkey
Good info John.
Can you recomend a good 4" fletch that I can try?
Feels funny using such long arrows now but I needed them to clear the stirup...
I have lot's of time to experiment before the big day (Apr 25th)...

Everything is perfect including the longer arrows. I will PM you some info on some ideas you might find work better for fletching on larger diameter heads.

I have a used Nikon bolt on the way, got it for a great price on CGN. I would rather buy a Leupold but that will have to wait untill next year... LOLNormous wrote:What kind of scope do you have on the way?

Instead of PM I think it best to share with others wanting to use this set-up.
I would suggest using 4" Vanetec V-Max Fletch. Seems to work very good.
Another thing to remember is using long fletch means you cant do a helical since it will rub the rail all the way down,
Just make sure you use a good right offset.
Just enough to fit in rail without touching the inside channel. On 4"in. fletch I think you can use 3 deg.

Thanks John
The only issue I have is I only have the bolt fletching tool for the 2" vanes. Lucky for me I have a Bass-pro gift card and will be in T.O next weekend so I can get the tools for longer vanes...

Re: Gearing up for Turkey
I put my 20 inch arrows on with the 125 bullheads I used with my compound and they hit 6 inch right and low at 20 yards i went through this with them on my compound too. I'm not going to mess with them so I am just going to use my deer head again. On a side note I saw the flock that roosts near me this am and the 6 gobblers were running around fighting. I wish I would have had a video cam as the fighting purrs were awesome!

Jeff, if you want to save some $$ I can lend you (3) 5" Arizona clamp arms to covert your Arizona 2" Bolt tool to a 5" fletch if you want, just need to push out the three pins and replace.bellerivercrossbowhunter wrote:Thanks John

Re: Gearing up for Turkey
Been reading you post on the Magnus Bull heads . and here is what I found works best for me . 20" zombies two " Blazers fletch with a Arazona with and a lumenok. heres the thing that I found is the trick I got me some some of those spinning inserts 90grn. that did the trick for me. also I indexed my arrows. don't know if this will help you but it did for me.
