OH NO !
Well, dang it !
was putting on one of my new Vixenmaster Flemish strings and getting the stretch out, adjusted 2 times to set brace height, and noticed the space on the
right pad was closer than the space on the left side,
I think that would mean that the limb on the right side had weakened,
does this sound right ???
Dave
btw ,I have a 2010 equinox

Re: OH NO !
Sounds like the problem. Shoot a pic to Danny Miller and get her fixed up.
Re: OH NO !
Are you talking the S5 bumpers? did you inadvertently pull one pad out a bit adjusting the string? I wouldnt trust measuring the pads, measure to a fixed point on the riser or to the limbs.

I agree the pads are not always even.newbie wrote:Are you talking the S5 bumpers? did you inadvertently pull one pad out a bit adjusting the string? I wouldnt trust measuring the pads, measure to a fixed point on the riser or to the limbs.
shoot it a little bit then check the till as newbie said.
also a little till difference is common and usually not a problem..
if you ever set up a compound vertical you know that you can set the till different on the top and bottom limbs to help balance the bow in your hand.

Re: OH NO !
Yep take a measurement on both sides from the limb where it meets the riser back to the string in the same place on each side!
Take it to full cock and measure limb tip to center of rail on each side. It does sound like maybe the string stip is slighly out more than the other?

yes I checked the S5 bumpers, newbie wrote:Are you talking the S5 bumpers? did you inadvertently pull one pad out a bit adjusting the string? I wouldnt trust measuring the pads, measure to a fixed point on the riser or to the limbs.
But I also took a tri square and set 6" in the center of the rail and the string touched the square on the right side,
and about a 1/16' space on the left,
so, that tells me the string is not square to the rail.
which tells me I have a weak limb,
does that seem right ???

Get ahold of Danny.
Re: OH NO !
Sorry but that statement is impossible. You must have held the square incorrectly. The string is held by the tips of the limbs, across the rail. therefore the angle of the string crossing the rail, from one side to the other will be the same (but a mirror image). You can not have one side correct and one side wrong.papabear1 wrote:............. took a tri square and set 6" in the center of the rail and the string touched the square on the right side,

Ahhhhhhhhhh----not sure I can agree with that if one limb is different than the other

Re: OH NO !
Before you make yourself crazy, shoot a fixed broadhead. If accuracy is good, be happy and carry on. Tiller is never perfect on any bow that has no adjustments.
If you find poor accuracy, remove the limbs and reinstall them on opposite sides (swap left to right). Then take a measurement and shoot. Limbs over time and shooting will shift often causing mental anguish but rarely causing poor accuracy.
One thing of note. It is really easy to make yourself crazy when checking tiller. Just push on a limb tip with the tip of your finger and see how easily the string or limb moves, apparently changing tiller. So be gentle when putting your square on the string.
The best way to check tiller is looking at the grooves that your latches make on the serving. Look at how those gooves relate to the flats on the flight deck. They'll never be even but they should be close.
The picture below is from my website and the tiller on this bow is as good as it gets.

Re: OH NO !
I had the same issue on my 380 when I first bought it two years ago. Mine was very obvious I believe 5/16 inch from limb tip to limb tip using a square along rail and string. I called Danny he had me send him the entire riser with string. As always he took care of it and sent it back with new limbs problem solved in little over a week.

Tom is right. One limb off will effect the string and we are relating the string's position the the mainframe.

I assure you that I know how to hold a square corerrectly
I made my living building houses for 35 years !
and I assure you I know how to hold a square,
a tri square is 12" long, so I adjusted it where the 6" mark
was dead center of the rail,,,,
that,s how I came up with my conclusion,
will try everyone,s suggestion before calling danny
Thanks everyone for their input.
