Mad panic!!

Post by Huntsman »

My buddy just text me. He said his crossbow has been cocked since November. He's worried it won't have the same power. It's an Exomax. I told him to see if the tiller marks still line up with the string. He's going to unstring it and leave it. What should he do?

Shoot it! Check Brace Height first!

Check the brace height. The string stretches even on a relaxed limb, and there has been a sustained higher stress applied onto the string. Examine the limbs to make sure there is no obvious splintering. Then shoot the bow, using the same arrow and point that it was sighted in with. If there is no change in point of impact, there was no harm done.

Likely that's what he'll find.

I agree with the others. I would just go ahead and shoot it if it is already cocked.
Has been done several times I have read about on here over the years.

Shoot it and then shoot it again since he is already shooting . I have done that with the Max no problem .

The string most likely has stretched . So is advisable to unstring and put some twists in it .
If your friend wants to ease his mind . Take a cotton ball to the limbs . We can all say it will be okay but he has to know for sure . :)
