BEE .001 or Zombie Slayers?

Post by Possum »

Been shooting Gold Tip Lazer 2 pro series out of my 330 for over a year and that shoot great out to 60 yards. Finally got my 350LE set up and shooting but I can't seen to get it to group consistently with my Gold Tips. I believe that the 23 Gold Tips my be a spine a little too weak for my 350.
If I build another dozen or so arrows should I go with B. E. Executioners or Zombie Slayers.
Thoughts, suggestions???

Zombies or Spynal Tapps get my vote. The executioners are great too if budget is a consideration. I found they broke on the deer I killed with my 380 and that's why I made the switch. I have still broken a few zombies, just not as many, but I don't plan on going back to the BEEs.

I ain't tried the BEE's in the 350W, but the Spynal Tapps are sure tac drivers! I'd agree hard to beet the Tapps or the Zombies when put together right!

Are you using the factory scope that came with the LE? My friend was having major problems with accuracy out of the box with his LE, and we determined it was the scope. Replaced with the Leupold and was splitting hairs.

Those arrows should be fine, check scope mount, etc. Zombie Slayer's are what I would get when you need more, but the GT Pro's should do fine.

What group size do you get with broadheads and how are your arrows configured (broadhead included).

Haven't tried broadheads on my arrows out of the 350 yet but when shot from my 330 with fixed blade muzzys they will hit constantly 2" low at anything beyond 35 yards but are spot-on at all ranges using spifires on the 330.

Arrows are 18" Gold Tip Lazer 2 Pro series, wieght & spine matched, spine indexed, fletcher with blazers using EZ Fletch Bolt, aluminum flat nocks, 110 gr brass inserts, 100gr field points, backbone of shaft between hen vanes, no graphics on shafts. Total arrow weight 382.7gr.

350LE Group size is about 4" at 50 yards from a solid rest, no wind. Trigger, rail, rings and everything else tight. Tried scope from 330 on the 350, groups still opening up from 30 yards and out. Brace height 1/4" from string stops, Tiller even on both sides, string sitting flat and even across rail.

Are the front inserts squared?
Have you tried different vanes as the cock vane?
Do you have any idea what the spine value of your shafts are?
You should check to make sure that the rear aluminum inserts are not wider than the shaft. They often are, all it takes is to slide your finger along the shaft and see if the insert is felt as is slides off the end.

Haven't tried different cock vane yet! Inserts and nocks are square (my wife says that I am a perfectionist to the point of plum crazy) I have the spine value written down with other info somewhere in my file cabinet but don't know what it is off the top of my head. The rear Inserts do have slight ridge at the shaft joint. I may try to heat them enough to see if I can remove them and replace with plastic.

I hate removing aluminum inserts. If I have to use arrows with aluminum rear inserts, I take a fine file to the inserts and put a slight chamfer on them. The won't scrape the arrow channel of your mainframe once chamfered.
I hold the file in the palm of my hand, press my thumb on the shaft and turn the shaft with my free hand. Sort of like draw-filing only on a radius rather than on a flat. When I'm done, I debur it with 600 paper.

I am shooting 18" BEEs out of my 350 LE. I also have Spynal Tapps and they both basically shoot the same holes.

I have micro 335 and 18 inch gt lazers 525 which are not PRO ones but shoot in same holes at 30 yards over and over...
