how do you spin test arrows
I am thinking of switching from mech BH to fixed heads, do you just spin like a top with BH on arrow? How do you adjust?

Re: how do you spin test arrows
Put your arrow in an arrow spinner, place the tip into a pice of cardboard and watch the tip while spinning. Alternatively you could use a dial gauge if the design of the broadhead allows.

Re: how do you spin test arrows
I just use an Apple Archery Spin Tester - about $30 at Cabela's or similar store.
Put the arrow on and observe the very tip of the BH while you rotate the arrow. I first turn iytslow looking for any runout and then do it fast.

I use (this is old school ) an arrow straightener for arrows. I then use an allumn block with center hole point drilled on the same axis as the arrow roller. Just straighten as you would for an arrow.Boo wrote:But what about your broadhead alignment Mister?nchunterkw wrote:I just use an Apple Archery Spin Tester - about $30 at Cabela's or similar store.

As for a normal spin test, I just use the palm of the hand with the point on the arrow. If there is a wobble you will feel it before you see it.
As Don mentioned above, rotate the arrow on the rollers (fixed marbles will also work), place a piece of cardboard next to the tip and see if there is a wobble.

Re: how do you spin test arrows
I look so that the BH tip is aligned with some small feature on my bench...like a period at the end of a sentence on some document or something. Then as I spin if the tip moves off of that feature at all I know I have alignment issues or something is wrong with the shaft.Boo wrote:But what about your broadhead alignment Mister?nchunterkw wrote:I just use an Apple Archery Spin Tester - about $30 at Cabela's or similar store.

Everybody has one...
Or alternatively......
A two foot 2 x 4 with finishing nails forming an X hammered into it at both ends. I use this one all the time.

Awshucks used 4 marbles on a board. He glued two together on one end of the board and and two on the other.
You can get a few marbles either from Joe or from a some kid in a playground that you don't like the looks of

Now that's a great idea! I'm actually going home to do that now.ehntr wrote:Everybody has one...

I would do the marbles but the glue would take too long to dry and I have plenty of nails.
Although I wonder if marbles would be more precise due to the fact that you could set the nails uneven and not perfectly parallel.
