Whats Wrong ? ( sighting in )

Post by exocet200hunter »

Hey everyone,

So, received my 350le today and got it all assembled and etc....
Go out to my buddies place to get it all sighted in and at 20yards I'm shooting 3inch low and 2inch left but my scope is bottomed out and cannot adjust height turret any further.
I even tried different settings on the scope ring with minimum success - what am I doing wrong ?
Also to note for other ppl that Baught the 350le did you get a DVD in your package ? ( I didn't )

These are the hardest to solve without seeing the setup firsthand. I'm sure you set brace height, so check scope mount screws, etc. Just for fun, dial the scope lower to rule out a bum scope. You can also turn scope and use the height adjustment as windage setting, and vise versa. Sounds like the scope though, good luck, keep us posted.

Did you add anything to it like REDS? Or anything else that made you alter the brace height? Just wondering if the string is having to stretch itself again if anything changed.

I got a DVD in my kit. But my scope had a dent in the windage cap and my arrow retention spring was jammed way down. (Im assuming shipping/packing issue but the box looked okay)

seems like the scope is bad or not mounted flush in the rings. Or the rings are not sitting in the mount right. Or one has burr.

I recently experienced something similar and started to pull out hair. when mounting my new Hawke XB30 SR on my Matrix 380.

Upon very close inspection, I found the bottom of the scope base was cocked up on one side and not evenly contacting and engaging grooves on the sides of the weaver rail equally. I tried and tried to get it mounted flush all the way around but finally had to give up and buy new "higher quality" set of Nikon Split ring 30 mm rings.... No More Problem .....and accuracy went back to awesome, with still sufficient lateral and horizontal adjustment available for plenty of windage and long distance adjustment if required.

Before doing anything mentioned above, you must confirm all scope base and trigger fastners ( screws ) are tight and have a small amount of blue loctite on them... same goes with all screws on the rings.

Try swapping the rings front to back and turn them 180. Seat and snug them carefully.

Try taking the stock off the rail and tightening the trigger assembly bolts.

When I buy a new bow (I have bought my fair share) here is what I do.

Check all fasteners to make sure they are tight.

Make sure rail to riser fit is perfect.

Check tiller for squarness.

If any major issues are found back it goes for warranty work.

Buy a good set of quality Leupold rings and toss the factory ones.

I also take it a step further and replace the scope with anything Leupold/zeiss or hawke.

Replace the string with a good quality flemish string made by one of our fine forum members of your choice.

Use black Eagle zombie arrows with quality fletching.

The above may seem extreme however. I hate nothing more than being frustrated with a bow that is not shooting well. Confidence in my bow is a top priority when I head to my tree stand...

You can try using another scope that you know is "proven". That will let you know if it is scope.Chinese scopes are Chinese scopes. They work really well.... Until they don't. Just my dos centavos.

Think I found the issue ! Didnt have the scope mounted properly ( bang head ), I guess I was in to much of a rush to play with the new toy.

Thanks for everyone's input, haven't had time to shoot it yet to see if that resolves the issue but hopefully.
Will keep you all informed.
