String to long ?

Post by exocet200hunter »

Hey everyone,

Had a custom Flemish string made for my 350le and I believe the string maker used the same stats as the 355.
This string seems long and am already getting serving separation and haven't even shot it it!
I've let it sit over nite cocked to help stretch out the string but it seems very tight when I twist it to get proper brace height.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Twist it until you have a greater brace height than you need. If you want a 1/4" brace height try twisting to 7/16"-1/2". Lots of twists will help stabilize and add strength to the string....unless it is to long. You'll know it's too long if it's binding (kinking) as you add twists.

Paul has it. if it was untwisted before installing your serving will separate. twisting will tighten it but it may be too late for your serving.

twist it counterclock wise to tighten it . I have had to twist some a ton not only on the Matrix but also on my Exomax . New String I tighten it a little past the brace line. I shoot it a few times to get it to settle in .

Wouldn't the string be the same for any matrix series? They all have the same limbs.

You got good info, twist it up fer the proper BH and shoot away, make shure you are twisting it the same way it was built, usually counter clockwise, and remember your 350 LE is a 355 for all practical reasons, and yes a Matrix string is a Matrix string, no matter what model you have. good luck!!

It's just that when I do twist it to get it say half inch from my bumpers the limbs seem like there so bent back that there going to snap ! Lol
When measuring side by side from the stock string this string looks to be about 1.5-2 inch longer.
Thoughts ?

Don't worry about the limbs, twist yer string to yer desired brace ht. 1 1/2-2" is abit long, maybe jus needs twistin up. I ship my strings set at the brace ht. n the loops tied together so they stay correct. Once installed they may stretch abit as you shoot them in

Contact the string maker and get them to help you out with the issues. I think you'll be happier with a replacement string.

yep. IMO 1.5" is too much to make up for by twisting.

This is going to need a lot of twists! Lol, hope the serving doesn't start to separate again ( mostly when cocked ) but I guess it can always be reserved.

Matt, You need to contact the builder and get specific directions and specifications on your String . As you twist it to make it shorter, It should tighten the serving , Not cause it to separate . Mike
