315 0r 335

Post by jason25 »

I am again researching excels, really like the compactness of the micro series but have no where near me to try them, that said, I was searching on here and saw a thread with how easy the 315 is to cock so I was leaning in that direction but then I saw wyvern has a great deal on the 335 all set up. Its a tough decision. I also keep hearing the 335 is a bear to cock for an extended time and I plan on using this for 3-d and hunting. Shoot me in the right direction here. I like the 330 and 355 models also but they are wider and I would like one with the adf. I am new to this only owning a mission for a short time.

The Matrix 355 & the 330 are all day shooters. I sold my 335 Micro, and don't think i made a mistake in terms of mobility in the stand, or blind. JMHO!

good to know about the maneuverability, I see the micro is about 5 inches shorter in width, that's 2 1/2 inches per side, has anyone ever had an issue from a stand or blind. or cocking a micro from a climber.

I forgot to cock my 355 on the ground ONCE!  Cocked it up in the climber, I have the Third Hand Archery lock down straps, so I hung my feet over the front edge, and cocked pushing with the legs. Easy as can be! You'll find that just like any archery hunting, you have to wait for the shot to be right, and practicing from the tree stand prepares you for tight shooting. Set your target out to the sides, etc. when practicing, you'll get real wise real fast!

thanks, also looking at the 350 LE, that thing looks awesome, but does it take all the same accessories, I assume it does, just would hate to order things like reds or brakes that don't fit

Before you buy one, and some stuff you may not need, call Danny Miller 740-483-2312, or David at Wyverns. 603-659-0575. I recommend the Danny Miller bumpers, but I don't know much about the 350 either. They cost less, and work better in my opinion. Air brakes, I would not install. My opinion. Good luck either way you go!

The 350LE is a GREAT! bow. For a while I toyed with the idea of selling it to get a 315. Nope, with the 350LE I can shoot 400grain 2216's and get good speed.

I had a micro 335 and swapped it because it was too short to shoot comfortably for me. I do a lot of grouse hunting and the 350LE feels a lot like my O/U 12GA as far as balance.

I have Danny's rubber baby bumpers on my 350 and they work great! I wouldn't install the air brakes with the rbb's, jmho. The bow is amazing especially for the price!! :D

It's ultimately your choice to make and therefore the one that counts... I suggest you shoot as many Excalibur models as you can get your hands on that are on your "Short List" and form your own opinions...

Everyone will tell you theirs was the BEST CHOICE.

I have a new 2016 Micro 335 as well as a 2015 Matrix 355 and 380... IMO they are all exceptional models which preform very well while being of a draw weight I can accomplish with no more that a cocking rope... 8) I think as long as you choose a Micro or Matrix of aprox 330 fps or more, with new in-house limbs, you will not go wrong regardless of the model you choose.

There are so many variables that one size doesn't fit all. Our physical size and condition make such a difference. Not much weight difference between the Micro and Matrix but the cocking effort between the 330 & 355 Matrix vs the Micro 335 & 355 is significant to me. If a C-2 cocker is used, then the game changes. I want as flat a trajectory as practical: I use a M380, M405 and a BD400. The BD has only an XB75 on it and is kept light. The others are like Sendero rifles (heavily accessorized ) . They each have their place. We all have different wants.

I just purchase the new micro 315!
Absolutely love the bow. it is easy enough to load all day long even in a doghouse as I missed a turkey the other day and had to reload. Using the Excalibur quills that came with it. but changed the field points to 100grain. Total Arrow weight 355gr they were clock at 327fps. Just to let you know I'm 5-11 in height 170lb and a bit wiry. But the bow fits like a glove. balance seem to be perfect as I can hold it steady all day long. Hope this helps you out.

Micro 315 is actually a 325. It's the little bow that is an overachiever....
