Taxidermist near Toronto.

Post by bowmajik »

Hi all, I took my 1st spring bear and it turned out to be a decent sized male (in the neighbourhood of 300 lbs)I'm thinking about getting a European style mount done or a traditional bear rug. My only problem is I can't seem to find a decent taxidermist in my area. After calling a few and getting quotes of $3000 and up for a rug I figured I'd ask around on the forum.

I have been very happy with the quality and the $ of Alf's taxidermy. He is in bowmanville. The man is awesome guy to deal with

I think he has a facebook page if you want to see his work

I have used Doug Fagg, of Doug's Taxidermy in Mount Albert (north of Toronto)with great results. I have also seen a bear rug he did and it looked very nice, but I'll admit I'm not specialist in the field. I have known Doug for many years, he's a stand up guy.

JJ taxidermy in Brampton or Wayne Azzopardi in Orangeville, both very good artists, fair prices and professional. I used both of them and highly recommend their work

I second Alf. He did a hog and a couple of ducks for me.

Best taxidermist in Canada - Len Murphy is in Baltimore Ont just north of Cobourg.
If you have seen the life size Rhino at the ROM or all the big game mounts at OFHA Museum you have seen his work.

Artistic Taxidermy in Michigan is world class, not sure if they do birds.
