Anyone interested in shooting 100 yards at Boofest?

Post by Boo »

Paulaboutform is scheduled to come to Boofest and I'm sure we can talk him into setting up a 100 yard range if anyone is interested. So with that said, who is interested?

Where do you plan on putting that Don ?
Across the back ? We will need an adequate backstop for the people with too much elevation .

I think I already did shoot 100 yards once when I missed a 3D target.

We need a pointed stick for people with too much elevation
I will have to have a discussing with Paul. I'm sure that there won't many bows set up for 100 yards, so there may have to be some concessions made.
But you're right about what you're thinking, one bad shot could end Boofest for good.
Far too many shooters raise their loaded bows way too high. We'll have to clamp down on that.

I lose enough arrows at 60 yards. That's about my limit.

If logistics could be arranged, I would throw my hat in the ring. My Matrix 410 and Paul's monster Matrix are practically twins, it'll be like an Excalibur family reunion. My VXR/HHA combo is down for some 100y shooting. 8)

I was talking to Paul this evening and we came up with a few ideas. One was that the shooter will have to start at a shorter distance and work towards the 100 yards. I will have a few targets set up.
I can set up a plywood back stop.
Paul wants to have shooting on Saturday and Sunday.

I LOVE THAT! This could be a lot of fun. I know Derrick and Marcel will be up for it but I'm sure there's going to be more. This'll be much easier logistically if you let us know (when I say 'us' I mean Don as I will just try helping him any way I can) if you're interested. I think an 8'×8' plywood backstop will be sufficient. I'd like to see a bench and sandbags for people to check marks or get marks. I'll try to remember to bring some appropriate target faces for that range.
***if you're interested but would rather not post about it please PM Don or me***
As Don mentioned, safety first. Crossbows must NEVER be raised above the target, not when loading your arrow and not when shooting. I observed people shouldering their bow pointed at 11:00 o'clock and settling down on the target. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Just some thoughts.

Seeing as I buy them from you, you're a shrewd business man indeed.

.....You guys are going to have a lot of fun for sure....might I suggest that you set up the range with the targets facing the house  this way there will be added pressure and a reason not no miss

I like the idea of working out to a 100 yds. :) The new scope for my 380 should be here next week, but I will not have time to hit the range for any 50 plus yard shots before Boofest.
I'll bring my portable bench, lead sled and a target or 2.
