Do you guys wear Camo?

Post by Karl »

Coming from a previously rifle background, just curious as to what folks wear hunting out there. Does camo help?

You can call me an old fart but all I use is the old woodlands pattern. :)
I've been using it for gun or bow for over forty years. I have tried the others...mossy oak/real tree but have never noticed a different reaction from the deer one way or the other.
Ninety five percent of the time when I get busted they got me with their nose, not the eyes. :?

Yes on camo and buy soft ones ..does it make difference on deer seeing you not that i can see ..I like it because i feel i am hidden from people also ..

deer smell you invest in good rubber boots for archery they smell your feet, spray your clothes with scent remover and put in bag away from odors..

I hunt on the ground, pretty exclusivly in a spot and stalk method. I always rely pretty heavily on my Camo...

This year I am also going to include a couple different types of ghilie suits into the mix as a couple places I lay in wait for mule deer the desert camo one could help me blend into the sage brush better. One has a face net and the other, a hood which also works well.

Don't know? just what I wear year round! I do worry more about wind and odor, but always try and blend into my surroundings,,,,,, whites greys and browns don't care much fer dark patterns.

I wore military camo for years when my budget was tight, it worked well. I do have scent lock gear and works roughly the same. Still getting deer, and yotes.

Covering your face goes a long way in my opinion. I have had more close encounters since I bought into that belief. Dark solid colors work great too if you sit still. I do wear camo. though, mostly so other hunters don't find me!

Camo clothing? Yes! Pattern depends on time of year and terrain.

But most important is disguising your scent. I've stood within 10 yards of deer wearing jeans and flannel shirt, with the wind in my favor, and they looked right at me and continued to feed. Fool their nose and fooling the rest of their senses becomes easier.
