Anyone using Ramcats?

Post by Robfromga »

I know its subjective to a point, like ford or Chevy....

Ive had good luck with Ramcats in my compounds. Thinking of ordering some 125gns. What sort of arrow/inserts do you use? Looks like 110gn inserts on zombies at 16.5" is a good recipe? Shooting it from a micro 355

Ramcats for me, fly incredibly accurate out of my 380 using Zombie arrow. I've shot them out to 60 yards and get the same POI as my field points and they as you know leave a great hole in the animal.. They are all I use...

arrow set is:
16 3/4" Zombir with 110 grain brass insert and a Lumenok and Blazer vanes
Matrix 380 Xtra with Vortex Viper XBR, Trigger Tech,
Matrix 380 Xtra with Vortex Viper XBR, ^^^
Matrix 380 Blackout with Vortex Viper XBR,
Micro 335 Raid with HHAv Vortex Crossfire II Pro Grade trigger

That's my recipe, I believe. I love the Ramcats. They fly great and do a good job on the animal. The bison in my avatar was taken with a Ramcat at 30 yds...complete passthrough with blood everywhere. That is not usually the case with a bison as the hide absorbs almost everything. The 3 deer I shot with them last year didn't go more than 20 - 25yds.

Jeff, they really do fly good. Even better than my Slick Tricks did. I think it has to do with the way the ferrule is cupped. It helps with turbulence and with penetration by forcing tissue and fluid away from the wound channel as it goes through reducing drag. Search them on You tube. Tons of videos.

They are a little big though. They fit in an Excal quiver but just barely

Great info Keith. Next time I am stateside I am going to pick up a pack and give them a try. Heck if they took a buffalo down then deer and Bear are in trouble... :)

Holy Price Tag!!! I just saw them on Amazon for $65.00 Canadian or $47.00 USD. I thought the toxics were pricey but that's crazy!

The last 3 100gr. I bought were 29.00 us. I also bought 2 packs of 125 gr.replacement blades at 16.00 us creates a Franken blade of 104gr. With big 11/2"cut and to qoute others something about design but the holes are huge compared to the cut diameter. :D
