Don, I saw your clip on CTV News. It introduced you as a crossbow expert. You were shown cocking and shooting an Excalibur Micro at a target numerous times, and stating that crossbows are used for hunting and cause death by massive bleeding. Then while sitting on your porch you stated that you found it hard to believe someone could shoot four people, since it takes too long to load and shoot a crossbow.

CTV News obviously edited it to suit their purpose. I wonder if the general public understood the point you were trying to get across. :?

Don't think I would want to be interviewed for TV news.

Was interviewed for local newspaper once but was never mentioned in paper. Was not charismatic enough apparently.

I have been interviewed by the media before and would never do it again. It is too easy for them to edit your responses and put whatever spin they want to on them.

As more details of this story emerge I just makes me angry. Every news story and every anti-firearm politician out there is always going on about how we have to make our streets safer etc etc and get weapons out of the hands of those that would do harm.

Well it turns out the guy pulling the trigger here was a convicted bank robber.

Brett Ryan, the individual charged in this case was arrested in 2008 and charged with 29 offenses relating to a string of bank robberies (allegedly robbed 12 banks).

In 2009 he plead guilty to eight (8) of the robberies. Under the Canadian sentencing guidelines he should have got (minimally) 5 years for the first offence (if he had never been arrested before) and minimally 7 years for subsequent offences.

But we know that we can't be "too harsh" on these "misguided" individuals especially since it was probably "society's fault" he turned out that way. So he ended up with a sentence of 3 years and 9 months. Under our 2/3's "time served" plus double credit for any pre-trial time served he probably served about 24 months.

Had they even given him a 7 year sentence, which could be considered "minimal" according to the guidelines, back in 2009, it's possible that he wouldn't have even been "out" when the murders were committed.

He just better hope that he doesn't get convicted "this time" for careless use and storage of that crossbow. Even if he beats the murder rap somehow he could do 5 years for mishandling of the crossbow - more than twice the amount of time he did for the 9 bank robberies he plead guilty to.

But it is all about "keeping our streets safe"....
