Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
Would these be good for this?
http://www.wyverncreations.com/index.ph ... cts_id=763
If I bought these could I just add any 100gr broadhead?
Would the 100gr thunderheads work well with this?
Would 18" bolts work well on this? I'm assuming that 16.5" will work better since that is what it ships with?
Would 4" groups from a rest be a reasonable guess at 75 yards for this? I'm trying to get an idea what the micro 355 will group at long range.
Sew has stated that he has gotten maybe 3" groups out of the micro 335 at 60 yards.
Has anyone tried to shoot groups with the micro 355 any where from 50-75 yards?
Anyways, if so what groups are you guys getting out of the micro at these ranges?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm thinking about making a purchase ASAP and any info would be much appreciated ...thanks for the help

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
I think the micro would not be every good at distance shooting. It's just my opinion but being such a smaller bow, I believe it's more geared for hunting. I think 40 and 50 yds would be the limit.
I'm sure others will disagree, but like I said its JMO.
But I will let you know when I finally get mine together.

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
If you don't mind the arrow sticking out past your stirrup, 18" arrows are fine.
But IMO, the best length for a Micro arrow is however long you can make it with your broadhead not sticking out past the stirrup. And since everybody uses a different length mainframe and a different BH, the perfect length varies. For example I shoot longer mechanical BH, use a Lumenock, and I have a custom mainframe - so my magic length is 15.75". You need to figure this one out for yourself, based on what you plan to use on the arrow.
A well built Micro arrow is very accurate beyond 50-60y and should achieve groups better than the 4" you hoped for @ 70y, from a rest.
Is the Micro the best long-range recurve platform? Probably not, the EXO and Matrix series will get the nod there.
If I was going to buy custom arrows, I wouldn't go with Executioners. A stiffer spine is necessary for crossbows; Black Eagle Zombies and SSAS Spynal Tapps are better suited for what you want from your bow. Take a look at South Shore Archery and see what Jerry offers...especially if long range accuracy is what you hope to get from your bow.

Thanks a lot!
Do lumenoks affect accuracy?

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
....anytime there is a change in arra weight it might change FOC based upon distribution of the weight across the arra...a Lumenok is 29g is heavier than either a plastic or aluminum nock will add weight to the tail of the arra there could be a change in POI which would most likely be imperceptible at shorter distances.snugs wrote:Thanks a lot!

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
my 18inch arrows went from 395 grs to around 420 grs with the Lumenocks .i used set screw to bring the other arrows to same weight..
Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
I'm shooting 3 to 4" groups at 50 yards with 16" Black Eagle Executioners out of my Micro 335 with Lumenocks and fixed blade broadheads screwed on. The total arrow weight is around 377 grains. With field points and a Micro 355 I imagine you could do even better and at longer distances.
Fifty yards is well beyond my hunting range. As others have said, if long distance is your goal then the Matrix 355 or higher may be best suited for it.

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
Any recommendations on what the best arrows to get setup are for this from south shore? Should I just ask them or does someone have a recipe? Is it possible the get a few with lumenoks and the rest setup to fly like the lumenok ?racking up points wrote:If you don't mind the arrow sticking out past your stirrup, 18" arrows are fine.

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
I have decided on the micro 355. Very tough decision between that and the bulldog. Now I just need to get my arrows squared away and broadheads, ASAP.
Has anyone purchased from thehunterszone in WV(rather–B–hunting)? He seems like a good guy and I'm about to purchase from him.
Any tips on arrow setup, lighted nocks, and broadheads would be appreciated.
I'll probably order custom arrows tomorrow from south shore.

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
When I was shooting the Gen 1 Micro 335 and my M380,405 and Vortex, there was a major factor I unintentionally omitted: custom arrows were being shot out of every other xbow except the Micro which was being used with the stock quills. Custom arrows should reduce the Micro's group size. I still think that as the range increases, the groups size disparity will increase compared the the longer arrows shot out of the longer limbed Matrix series.
Just wonder what a stiffer limbed, say #260-280, Equinox would do with 20" custom arrows. Right or wrong, I believe that longer limbs and longer arrows will group tighter at extended ranges.

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
Ya...... That's what I was trying to say.
Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
When i bought my arrows from Borkholder archery i thought they would use 16.5 inch length..They rec if i was too shoot to 50 yards with my micro 335 they would use 18 inch for better FOC.. Their arrows weighted 395 grs without Lumenocks about 420 grs with..SEW wrote:When I was shooting the Gen 1 Micro 335 and my M380,405 and Vortex, there was a major factor I unintentionally omitted: custom arrows were being shot out of every other xbow except the Micro which was being used with the stock quills. So your info most likely is normal as they liked longer arrow with micro bows...my 18 inch group good at 30 yards but i did have 2 flyers in the doz and no matter how you turned arrow vanes they still would not group with other arrows ....these were GT 425 arrows with .005 not pro arrows at .001..
I was at archery shop and they said ,SPROUL THAT IS NORMAL TOO HAVE A BAD ARROW OR 2 IN DOZ ...unless you go to better arrows and even then he said he gets 1 that is off from others..
he like BEAMEN arrows a lot for average shooter,i hope i spelled that right..
Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
Just ordered spinal tap. All I need now are 100 grain broadheads...any recommendation? Are NAP thunderheads accurate?
Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
I like to shoot the 2" cut Swackers out of my Excals. They shoot same POI as my field points and flat out do a great job on the deer. The newer ones that come with the practice point in the pack have been redone and no longer hit the shafts like the old model did. Walmart has them around $23 online.snugs wrote:Just ordered spinal tap. All I need now are 100 grain broadheads...any recommendation? Are NAP thunderheads accurate?

Re: Micro 355 a few questions on bolts/accuracy
Ordered 6
Spynal tapps 16.5"
3" vane
110 gr insert
100 field point
3red 3 green lumenok.
Weight and spine matched
Default micro 355
Was gonna put xb75 on it.
I'll have to see how well this shoots.
Let me know if I should change anything.
Need good broad heads.
Now I'm wondering if these short arrows are gonna bury to far in the target?
