Cabelas refurbished Excalibur questions

Post by Odindad »

Hello. I have recently joined the forum after years of coming here for information. I was shooting an Exocet 200 until it was stolen. I am looking to replace it with a matrix series. I noticed Cabelas has some refurbished models for a discounted price. Has anyone here purchased one of these refurbished? I am concerned because they call it a lsp package . I assume that means light stuff package but the description says it only includes crossbow and scope. The picture shows it with a quiver and arrows as well. Just trying to figure out if I need to budget other equipment in with their price, like rope cocker etc.

I would call Cabelas as to what you get , I am guessing just the bow and scope.
That is a real bummer about your stolen bow hope the thief gets a big dose of bad carma.

I does say crossbow and scope only but everyone I know who has bought a refurb package from them got the full package. A few were shorted parts but got them after calling Excalibur about missing parts.
I have seen complaints about scratched up and extremely used bows though.

If I were you I would be looking in the classifieds on this site and Crossbow Talk site for a good used package. Probably be cheaper with more accessories and still carries the full warranty.

I hope this is not out of line and if it is, please let me know and I'l delete it, however:

Check out Al Flatery's Outdoor Store in Canada. He ships to the US and we save on the currency exchange rate and you get a brand new complete 380 package with all the accessories and with a full warranty here in the US... His Canadian price is $1099.00 and after the Bank conversion you will be billed on your cc $845.78 and free shipping..

Thanks. Cabelas is having a 10% off free shipping sale for Labor Day so I was trying to get some quick info. I was close to a few good deals on the trading post but missed out due to hesitation. Takes me forever to make up my mind about spending money. I started out looking at a new vixen 2 for under $400 and keep telling myself for a little more money I can upgrade to this model etc.. Now I am looking at matrix 380. I know the vixen will kill anything but the extra speed and narrower limbs sure are attractive.

If your a veteran, you can have Cabels ship to their nearest store and get an additional 5% on top of the sale price and 10% off pricing just by asking,,, The extra 5% is only offered if bought and paid for thru a store but not ON LINE as I understad it...

I would buy one refurbished, as it was done by Excal. and still carries their lifetime warranty.
If it does perhaps have a scratch ? At least you were not the one who gave it it's first one.

I would look at some internet deals along with Dunhams. The deals at the bargain cave aren't that good in my opinion. You can get a brand new one for the price they are asking. I was at Cabelas yesterday and the prices were not that great plus it is used. I got a great deal on EBay for my set up. I got the octane case, Micro 335 kit plus another 6 arrows for less then $900.00 dollars delivered. Good luck shopping. Yes the rumor is that Bass Pro is buying Cabelas.

Thanks for all the help. After exhaustive research on the forum I decided to order a Matrix 350 le from Al Flahertys. Seems to be the absolute best bang for the buck in a new Excalibur.
