What I shoot out of my 335 is factory quills with 125 grain NAP Spitfire Max. When shooting at 40 yards I do pretty good with that set up. A buddy of mine took a few shots and he went out and bought himself a 335. I'm pretty confident at shooting at game with no problems.

I would say that at forty if it walks in front of you and you get a clean shot it's dead. If you miss I would lean towards operator error. The 335 is a tack driver!

If you shoot from a rest....... Don't shoot at the same spot twice unless you can afford to replace your arrows.

Well the up and down is not bad but he left and right can vary between 2 and 4" to the left at 40yds.

I would say check all the scope mount and trigger box screws first.
You say 2 - 4 inch's.. is that all at the same yardage?

Something's going wrong then. Is every screw tight on the crossbow? Are you cocking it consistently? Cheek weld consistent from shot to shot? You know... all the usual stuff. :) Do you know if a single arrow groups well with itself, or does it vary by up to 4" left and right?

Everything appears tight and all shots are from the center to the left with very litlle up and down variation.

Shoot only one arrow to determine if it is consistently shooting the same hole every time. Arrows may fly differently if not custom made/spine indexed.
Custom made indexed arrows will all fly the same.

If everything is tight then it sounds like you might be pulling your shot.

Are you right or left handed?

Did you by any chance have a decent crosswind blowing when shooting?
