That is a great series, Vertacre. I've seen does fight like that but never bucks. It had to be them knowing they were still in velvet and not wanting to injur themselves. I bet they were just about to shed the velvet and that's why they were getting ornery towards one another. Did you catch any pics of them a few days later out of velvet?

This year I had a bachelor group hanging out together in velvet. I could tell though that when they shed the velvet they separated from their group. After all of them had shed the velvet, they all got back together and started hanging out again. I love these trail cams. They teach us so much about deer behavior. Pretty neat.

I didn't even know Simmons made trail cams. Looks like it takes some nice pictures. I wonder if that first buck with the rhino looking antler actually has a third main beam or if it's just a brow tine.

acreek you are right about them. They were together all summer-- sometimes with other smaller bucks tagging along. At the latter part of Sept. when groups break up, the 10 was gone. The 8 stayed around the area. They did the exact same thing the year before. I have no idea where the 10 went. Believe me, I tried both years. I think he was killed about 2 to 2 1/2 miles away as the crow flies at the end of last season.

I love the cameras too. I have almost as much fun moving them around trying to figure out what the critters are doing.

What are you feeding your deer? Whatever it is, I need to put some of it in my food plots.

I'm feeding them Elk food.
Actually just natural forage and water, augmented with mineralized salt.

To go on a bow elk hunt is at the top of the bucket list. Following right behind that is any elk hunt.
