Rained out opener.

Post by deadeer »

Hated to stay home, with finally having the cooler temps, but a thunderstorm has been rolling thru this morning. NW Indiana has been stuck under this "cut off" low pressure system for most of the week, and the rain just keeps coming in waves. Of course today, the first thunderstorm hits in the cycle now. Lol. Always something.

Hopefully the storm breaks soon enough to salvage part of the day

Same here in mid Michigan. Pouring like crazy... :(
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

We were out in the light drizzle this morning, then about 7:30am the skies unloaded a heavy downpour. Within a couple minutes we had enough and started home to dry everything out for the evening hunt. My daughter did see a couple doe and we saw a few moving along the roads. This afternoon is looking very promising as this clears out. My tail cameras are showing more deer moving during daylight hours since things cooled down a little this week.

Same story for the evening hunt. Dang storms and torrential rains. Gonna squirrel hunt in the morning and shoot a few guns at the range afterwards.

When bow hunting, whether with vertical or crossbow, it's wise to hunt when tracking conditions after the shot are ideal. With rain, tracking conditions are less than ideal, so it's good to sit it out until conditions are right.
Better days are ahead.
