My friend Todd got tore up pretty bad the other day.
This man is more of an outdoorsman than anyone I have ever known. If "this" can happen to him.... Then brace yourself, cause you're in trouble and possibly overdue!..
He is a major handgun hunter....and one of the most ethical men walking the planet. And from the video you see that he is pretty damn tough too!!
I am sure, had he chosen to use his handgun, rather than his pepper spray, there would be a dead mamma bear and 2 orphan cubs. And he wouldn't be so chewed up....But I know him well enough to say he didn't want to orphan those cubs. And the pepper probably really reduced the severity of his wounds.
This is around seven miles from my home...and where he grew up.
I read that story and watched the video. That's some pretty amazing stuff. I was surprised that he didn't pull his gun until after the second attack when he realized that if she attacked him again he might not make it.
He literally took two attacks before deciding maybe it's time to pull the gun to defend myself. Wow! I'll be honest, I would've pulled it the first time.
That's one of the highest levels of selflessness that I've ever heard about.
I had seen the video yesterday. holy crap! Your buddy is one tough/lucky sob to take a mauling twice and still be able to walk & jog away from it. That bear must have been pissed to charge from 80 yards initially. Good on him for not pulling his sidearm but had it been me I think I would have squeezed the trigger till no more bangs came out. Seems like an overly aggressive griz?
.....I echo what the previous posters have stated....one brave man who the Lord was looking out for that very day....wishing him a speedy recovery from his encounter!

I have video over on our facebook of bear that climbed up the ladderstand and sat on top of hunter archery hunting..i had this happen so many times and boy do bears stink bad ..on facebook enter CLINTON COUNTY OUTDOORS to see video..
try coming out at 9 pm at night by yourself with Buck and know he is following your tracks.lol.now i have deer cart ....lol..
Sure glad he made it from the attack, hope he recovers fully
