New Guy ?

Post by tcwild »

I just picked up a Grizzly and was looking over my BH choices. Anyone tried the Rock cutter heads? Also where are you buying your supplies? I'm wondering about the brass inserts mainly, I don't have a proshop locally. Also I have the diablo bolts, can I trade out the stock flat nock for the lighted ones? A lot more questions to follow I'm sure. Thanks

tcwild,

Welcome,

You'll have to endure some caution among the members here initially, because occasionally new forum members such as yourself have turned out to be dishonest exploiters.

First thing everyone wants to know about you is your location. USA? Canada? If you want recommendations for purchases, we need to know where your local market is.

I have not tried the broadhead you mentioned but someone else who have may chime in....

I buy my arrows from Jerry at South Shore Archery Supply in Florida. But thats useless info if you can buy quality arrows for less in your own country.

Your turn...

Enjoy your Grizzly,

There you go, I got her figured out. I tend to be computer challenged.

I am shooting G5 Striker broadheads right now and they seem to fly good. After this season is over I'll be shooting the beefier VPA non-venteds for everything from 5-110 yards. Shafts are either Zombies or Tactical Tapps.

You can swap out the stock nocks for lighted ones, but frankly, if you have the cash then buy new bolts and install the brass inserts and the lighted nocks in those. Use the Diablos for practice.

To swap the nocks, you need to screw a metal bolt into the nock threads, heat the metal bolt up until you break the glue's bond between the aluminum nock and the carbon shaft and then pull the nock out. Make sure you don't overheat to the point of damaging the shaft.

Check out your local archery shop first (in person or over the phone), even if they don't presently carry crossbows because they can order what they don't have and will start carrying crossbow merchandise and start serving crossbow hunters when enough people start asking. If the owner turns out to be an archery snob then go online.
