New string and arrows

Post by Square_hammer »

Oh I am so excited, I am ordering a flemmish string from one of the forum members and I just ordered some B.E.E. cut at 16.5" with a 110 grain brass insert. Now I have to wait for it all to arrive. I hope my matrix 330 likes the combination of string and arrow. With a 125 grain head and luminoc I'm hoping to come in around 400ish for my arrows. Will post a pic one things start showing up.

Perfect.

High Speed sells bows.
High arrow momentum = perfect pass through shots..

Well change of plans, i wss talking to boo and it looks like im getting zombies instead of the exectuioner bolts. A dozen zombies from boo, shipped, isnt much more than six executioners from the other place. I have never assembled arrows before so i may take them to my local archery shop, i called today and they said it was $.20 per shaft or $.25 per shaft to cut and assemble. After i messaged boo i realized he cuts them as well, even better. How hard is it to assemble them and have good arrows? Is it something you dont need special tools for, other than fletching? I work with my hands so as long as i dont need special tools i feel like i could do it myself. Any input would be appreciated.

Boo has a video here making arrows that is pretty straight forward, and you need a good jig. Lot's of us use the "Bolt" jig from AAE, it puts a nice helical set on the vanes, and using Blazers, or any vanes under 2.25" long work great. It is not hard to do, and very gratifying when you kill with your hand made arrows. A good insert adhesive is necessary, and acetone for cleaning, and prep work to get rid of oily finger residue. Also, AAE has videos using their jig, you can do this!
