Changing Scope mount?

Changing Scope mount?
I recently ordered a night vision scope for hunting yotes. I was going to change my excalibur rings to QD rings so I could swap scopes w/o having to re-zero. That's when I realized the rail is weaver and not picatinny. The night scope I ordered only works on picatinny. Is there a way to change the rail on my Guardian ADF to Picatinny? Has anyone done this before and does it compromise the integrity of the mount?

There are dozens of a "adapters" on the market that would let you leave your current rail in place.
You would still have to "swap" scopes but could leave you night vision one "mounted" on the adapter. It would place it higher (obviously), but unless you planned on using it "often or predominantly" it may be the easier way to go.

Another option is to modify your current rail so that the scope ring mounts fit the Weaver style rail.
"What are the differences between the “Picatinny” and the “Weaver” systems? The profile of the two systems is virtually identical. Depending on the quality of the machining done by the manufacturer, the two systems should be indistinguishable from the profile. The key difference lies in the placement of the recoil grooves and with width of the grooves. MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) grooves are .206” wide and have a center-to-center width of .394”. The placement of these grooves has to be consistent in order for it to be a true “Picatinny” MIL-STD system. Weaver systems have a .180” width of recoil groove and are not necessarily consistent in a center-to-center measurement from one groove to the next. In many instances, a Weaver system has a specific application that it is machined for, so interchangeability is not necessarily an issue. A MIL-STD-1913 system must adhere to the specifications listed above in order for it to be considered MIL-STD, since the military desires uniformity in the recoil grooves to allow for different systems to be mounted on the weapon with no concern for compatibility."

I had to file another slot in my Equinox rail to mount my Nikon Bolt Xr scope where the eye relief was correct.

Re: Changing Scope mount?
If your slots fit the grooves but the mounts will not tighten down here is a simple fix. I cut a couple of thin strips of 1/16" thick rubber and slipped them between the mounts and the base on the offside from the screws. My mounts then tightened down fine and have remained that way.

Re: Changing Scope mount?
One other option would be to get two Excalibur scope rail mounts. I would then get both of them machined to use taper head screws like I posted here.

Get one of the two rails machined to fit the picatinny rail spacing and then you should be able to sight in each scope and swap between the two scope and rail assemblies and maintain the same point of impact. I would try it without thread locking compound if you are planning to swap between the two on a regular basis.
