C-2 Crank

Post by SEW »

I've not been able to get the instructional videos to play (on my iPad). So, a question: is the recommended usage to turn the hooks so that they engage from the bottom and the cord being wound onto the roller is the upper one so that it doesn't rub on the other strand? If this isn't the recommended way, who not? Is there a better way than what I've described?

I haven't used mine is ages but I changed nothing and from what I recall the hooks went over the top and I believe that's how I used mine. I don't know about a better way, I just used it as it came and twisted nothing.

I might be wrong but I believe the newer crank hooks go under the string. The benefit being that you can see if the hooks are fully engaged or not.

Bought one earlier this year. Hooks were up but video said they were to be down. Kinda puzzled me but I just used it that way since I was used to using the rope cocker with hooks up also. Used it for a few months like that till string on crank started going bad. Had to retie knots so I changed them down to see if there was a difference in the way it pulled up rail. No difference noted other than I can't see the string on hooks anymore. Probably will change em back to up when crank string goes bad again.

I have the open part of the hooks facing back toward me as I crank up. Always make sure the hooks are tight against the outside edge of the rail on the way up from start to finish.
