I mmmmissed a big one

Post by longbow joe »

Im gonna come clean and just admit that yesterday.morning a big 8 came in he was only 35 yards he was kinda fast walking towards the decoy he came the worst way for a shot ...l only had a small opening and l drilled a 2 inch sapling if he woulda stopped at the "meep" i sang out but he just kept walking. Ohh well at least i didnt wound him. Funny the other day at the archery store i overheard a jerk telling his buddy how crossbows are not a challenge because you cant miss. That keeps playing on my mind now ! Wow l really must stink. A couple days ago i shot a skunk in the yard at 40 yards ....at nite. With a light under hand under the rail . I now i miss a giant buck wow

I missed a big 8 with my recurve last year. Second guessed my aim and shot over its back ... at 15 yards. I know a trad bow is different than a crossbow but the pain and disappointment isn't. I relive the shot every day pretty much and I'm sure you'll do the same with this shot. That's why it's called hunting and not killing. That's why we get so excited when it all comes together. Good luck. Keep at it. And thanks for sharing. Hearing others' stories of misses helps ease my pain somewhat. Haha.

Sorry to hear that, I've had to teach myself to just sit back and laugh when I miss.
