Pa. Fall Gobbler

Post by catclr »

Just want to share a photo of my first Fall Gobbler with a Crossbow, taken Sat. 10/29/16 opening day of Pa. fall turkey season. Was Archery deer hunting, with my grandson, and at first light we heard birds gobbling north of our blinds. He had to leave at noon, so I moved into the blind he had been in all morning. At about 1:50 pm. 3 gobblers came feeding from South East of the West blind I was in, and only had a shot on this bird. About a 30 yd. shot, bird wt. 18#, 7" Beard, and 7/8" Spurs. Equipment M355, 16.5" arrows, Deadringer Trauma 100 gr. Broadhead, and Nefletch Ignitor's. Earlier in the week on way out around 11 am. had a Sow and 3 cubs at 25 yds. come up to me.

18 lb. He would be only a 2 yr. old bird based on the spur length.

It did the job, and all the damage was through the vitals. I have wanted to use it in the spring season, but have been using new shot loads and chokes. This does give me confidence.

Congratulations! I was hoping to get lucky on a turkey myself in Pa Saturday. I watched a whole flock of birds about a hundred yards away for a half hour. Like usual, they walked the other way...
