Rethinking my shot??

Go for the double lung shot. A spine shot is easy to miss and only get a single lung shot on. Wait till the deer is pointed away from the property you do not want it to run to as they normally take off in the direction they are facing when hit.

Whatever direction you choose to go, DON'T let an anti make the decision for you. He has zero power to tell you not to hunt. He doesn't have to like it. I'm not encouraging being rude, but you do your thing and let him do his.
Second, I personally would never go for an intentional shoulder or spine shot on a deer with a bow. I'd say on average the deer I shoot with my crossbow go less than 75 yards. Hunt as far from property lines as possible, and make good shot choices. I'd likely use the largest broad head your bow can shoot with wicked good accuracy, and just go for the easy heart/lung shot.

What are the laws in Alabama regarding deer recovery from someone else's property? Please report back with how this goes for you...

The law is you must have permission from the land owner. With as busy as I am right now I'm not sure when I'll even have a chance to hunt this property but I will report back if anything ever transpires.Patcon wrote:What are the laws in Alabama regarding deer recovery from someone else's property? It's over 80 yards to the next guy's property so if I do my part with a good Double Lung shot I should be ok. The woods are so thick he would never see me anyway.

I would ( actually " Do " in my situation) hunt a location / setup on the hunting property which is the furthest if possible from the property- line from the neighbour which may make recovery difficult.
If you do run into an issue it is always best to ask first politely and if refused access " Do Not " show or exhibit a negative reaction. You should smile and walk away and then involve your friend and maybe the local MNR first. Trespassing without the landowner OKAY is never a good thing in so many ways.
