Had some luck

Post by W.Miguire »

Our season started on Sept. 17th abit early here fawns are still nursing but that's when it opens . so I set up my hay bale blind in my friends farm don't know what it is but they pick me up every time I sat there so this year I put some real bales around me and that seem to do the trick. first sit had 19 deer in the field all does and fawns. that's good sooner or later they will bring in the bucks . been getting some nice video on my cam. but no bucks . day after day the bunch got a little smaller. until there were only 3 coming to the field . here on the island where I live they do a lot of driving (not good for s sitter like myself) so I think the got them so worked up the only come at night . comes OCT. I moved to another farm same thing but this time we got tire tracks in the field . not good . what to do now. so the Wife say why don't you ask if you can hunt deer behind the house, not a bad thought I hunt turkeys there all the time,so I did some door nocken and sure enough they said go and have a good time. well I set up a double bull and sat . first night I blew about 50mph or so , not a good place to be in a wind storm. so the next night I went out. just before quiten time here comes a good size deer it got about 12yds. from me and it was a big doe . hold up I kept telling my self you got 10 more min. before quiten time he will be rite behind her . no such luck.this went on for about 8 days or so the wind shifted so I set up a brush blind across from my pop up . saw no deer that night . the wife said why not try Robert's farm where you got the hay bale ,naw I think I'll stick it out behind the house. got dressed and headed out for my brush blind ,well about 4.20 I could see a deer about 60 or so yds. away . this one got some head gear and he is coming my way .he was on a mission walking right in front of me 18yds. come on turn I said to my self and he did . walking a good clip and stopped (twing) the arrow zipped through him and off in the woods it went about 40 or so yards. the deer took off and ran about 7 seconds and fell. no tracken this one that grizz 2 did it's job in no time . called my buddy Tully .Come and help me I got a big one down. it was a 10 pt. needless to say I was a happy as can be. just hope all of you are having a good hunt this year.
W.M. will try to pics. later
