Low lbs xbow

Post by Exocet77 »

So my girlfriend just got her license. She has trouble cocking my Phoenix, that last 1/2" kills her.

Excalibur doesn't sell the vix anymore I believe. Is there any newer Excalibur that replaced the vixen? What options are there now for a smaller person?

The Offspring is a great bow and it's perfect for women. My wife is small framed and she had no problems using it.

I was just over looking around on Eders.com site and saw they have a clearance sale on the Offspring. Was a good price.

Does the offspring not have cams and cables?

Prefer a recurve so I can show her how to replace a string etc if she needed to.

Taking her to sail tomorrow to at least see/handle a few. Bow shop is closed tomorrow.

Thanks

You need to check out the Excalibur Matrix Cub crossbow for her, my 9 year old can cock it, and he killed a 4 point buck, and blew through it completely at 25 yards with a grim reaper 125 broadhead, this bow shoots very accurately up to 50 yards.

Before you buy, have you tried shortening the length of pull on the cocking aid? If you have 2 in. of string draw preloaded on the cocking aid that's 4 in. less distance to pull.

If you are going to buy, I think she should also consider looking at bows with a shorter draw length. The Sapphire is the model Excal says is for the "small framed shooter". The draw length of a Sapphire is 3.7 in. shorter than the draw length of a Phoenix. It's usually that last 1/2 in. that gets ya. The Sapphire is in new Matrix series, shorter overall length, not as wide as the Phoenix, lighter and I'm guessing better balanced. It comes in the Mossy Oak Break-up Country camo.

I would also suggest getting a crank for both of yous to use for repetitive target shooting. It's the only way I target shoot, more enjoyable, more accurate and less risk of blowing up my back. For consistency  I crank my bow at the truck or house before heading into stand and leave the crank at the truck or house.

Another option is to consider the Dr. Stirrup stirrup and rope cocker.

As i have said in the past excalibur replaced a easy to cock dependable 150 pound vixen with the 200 pound matrix sapphire . Dosnt seem like a very smart decision to me but what do i know. Make it in a composite version but dont cancel the thing l know they are from canada but it looks like the usa mentality has wore off on em.
