Congrats to your son, Mike. Marketing would suggest a " Wabi Grunt Call" around your sons neck. Nice deer, I'm sure he is proud !

Congrats Very nice deer
Re: Ohio youth gun season is over......
Got the bullet out of the deer today. Barnes "Expander MZ" 250 grain.
Still weighed 250 grains. Base diameter was .451 and the expanded petals measure .972 as closely as I could mike them. The rifle (CVA Wolf) was loaded with 75 grains of fffg Goex black powder.
Never lost a deer yet with a Barnes bullet, but this was the second one I had to track using the 250 grain bullet (the other one went about 30 yards). I may go back to the 300 grain bullets I used in the past.

It was at 45-50 yards. I was using a very mild load of 75 grain of fffg Goex black powder under the bullet.8ptbuk wrote: Mike , How far was the deer when it was shot ?

I had trouble years ago getting them to open fully , They need to be pushed as fast as possible !wabi wrote:It was at 45-50 yards. I was using a very mild load of 75 grain of fffg Goex black powder under the bullet.8ptbuk wrote: Mike , How far was the deer when it was shot ?
