Finally scored one

Post by deadeer »

I took this nice doe in my folks backyard Saturday night with my Matrix 330 and a Slick Trick Mag. They live in a corner neighborhood lot surrounded by woods. I made a homemade guillie suit and sit between bushes in a lawn chair. She gave me a 24yd broadside shot, and only went 40yds. I have been after these rascals for 2 seasons, hunting there only when the weather is bad or I am short on time. Neighborhood deer are as sneaky as any, and I am proud to finally outsmart one.

Congrats on a nice doe.
I sat in a blind in my back yard last night because I saw a huge 9 or 10 point a few evenings ago right at dark back there. These two came in to check out the blind but I am not shooting my bait.

Deer are deer whether they're in the deep woods or the city, etc.

To a hunter that is true; however, some of my non hunting Dr. Doolittle neighbors would beg to differ, as they consider these to be their pets. These are "their deer".

Some of the biggest deer that you will ever see in NY state roam around in our backyard, as their survival chances are high, due to no gun hunting.

Some of us choose to hunt deep woods deer to keep peace with the neighbors. I wish the best of luck to those that do hunt in the neighborhoods as there are too darn many deer running around that need to be thinned out.
