First buck, Micro 335

Post by Heavy Waters »

Here is a short clip of me shooting my first buck with a crossbow, Excalibur Micro 335.
I haven't had much time to hunt this year so took advantage of Thanksgiving break to get out on the river. Had 5 bucks walk under me in 3 days. This guy was the biggest. Decided to shoot him so I could break the ice with my new crossbow. The 150gr Slick Trick passed through the front leg bone just below the top of the shoulder blade and stopped short of passing out the other side. The quill broke off on both sides of the leg bone. He made it about 50 yards and left one heck of a blood trail. His lungs were like juice when I opened him up.
It was a great holiday break and I'm very happy with my Excalibur.

Glad to hear a report on the ST 150's. They're in my quiver as well, still dry though.

Great job man...
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.
