Green380, I really hope this works out for you and that you're happy with whatever you choose. I think you had a legitimate complaint and your post was thoughtful and articulate. I understand your frustration. No, Excaliburs aren't perfect but as mentioned, none are. I would advise you to give your bow another shot and order yourself a set of backup seconds so you're protected from this in the future. I have them for every one of my bows. Take what trolls say with a grain of salt. If someone is happier with their Ten Point that's a win win....I'm sure Excalibur is happier for them to have a Ten Point also.

Howdy
Should I worry about my limbs? I have a Cabelas Equalizer, made by Excalibur. It is basically a Matrix 370. I love the bow, my first X-bow. I took a nice 6 pt. with it my first day out with it.

. . Be concerned about brace height, dry firing , checking to make sure screws are tight , not shooting too light weight of arrows, elongated string loops. All may contribute to limbs delaminating .but if the enivitable does happen your limbs are covered under warranty.

Thanks for the reply. I keep an eye on the brace height because I put the REDS on it, I also put on air brakes. It has the ADF. I am using the Diablos that came with it with 150gr. Boltcutters. I will watch the string loops.

You probably don't remember but we had an email exchange where you said you'd mail me a replacement string last year. I'm still waiting.
Sorry about that, not sure what happened there but we will make it right. I sent you a PM about the brake pads that were on your limbs. We will of course replace those. Not sure why you were not offered quicker option for your limb replacement? We do that on a regular basis so I'm not sure what the deal was. I apologize and hope we can do better for you in the future if required.

Recently Vixenmaster posted a thread about Excalibur's warranty only being 5 years for the older models, and apparently Excalibur has decided to now enforce that clause in warranty.
Seems like the new owner(s) are more concerned with profits than the bulletproof customer service we had when Bill T. was at the helm.
This is 100% false. Vixenmaster had an old carved tip limbed Vixen that we no longer have original limbs for and only were charging for a magtip limb upgrade. For a 16+ year old crossbow that's not bad. I worked closely with Bill T for years and our warranty is being run exactly the same as when Bill was here so nothing has changed. In many ways its much better.

Peter
My apologies Peter.
I had read the post and failed to follow up to see your explanation the charges were for the "upgrade" and not replacement (which is no longer available).
My mistake.

No problem, I just wanted to point that out. I got a lot of phone calls after that thread with people worried we changed our warranty.

Thanks,

I recently heard from a friend who has a new and very expensive scorpyd and he had a limb fail. You don't hear about these breaking as often but maybe that's because the ratio of excaliburs to scorpyds sold is so far apart. I hear of a lot of brands failing, is it the quest for speed? Is it making fast bows in a smaller package? It could just be that with everyone being so much more in tune with the internet it's become so much easier to share bad experiences.

It sucks that you had bad luck with your limbs but I think that's all it was "bad luck" anybody with any brand of bow can experience that same bad luck

Did you explain to him before selling it that Horton was bankrupt and out of business and there was no warranty anymore and parts are hard to find? You should have.

I agree with rein 1 on this issue....

I know I spent many days researching various manufactures and their models before laying down my hard earned cash for a Crossbow....
I found Excal to be the one for me even though it cost more than I was quite ready for at the time. I have no regrets and I would never blame another for the choice I made.

As stated a hundred times, anything can fail. If you are going on a big hunt or trip of lifetime it is very wise to have back up along no matter what your using, vertical bow, gun etc. With Excal there is still less parts to worry about than any of the other options.

In the FWIW column --- recently had an issue with a limb on my 405 --- followed the protocol as noted in the above sticky section --- all went very well (and quickly) the issue was resolved with no hassles and I was back in business in short order.
Thank you Excalibur!!
