A little experiment with original limbs vs blemish
I received my blemish limbs a couple of weeks ago and I wanted to see just how easy it was to install them. I am new to Excalibures so I never removed limbs or even relaxed them before so this was all new to me. I decided to check speeds for each set of limbs while I was doing this.
My bow is an Excalibur 350LE with air brakes. Brace height was set 3/4" from rail to string and 1/4" from bumpers to string with each set of limbs. I shot my original limbs through my Pro chrono with a 420 grain BEE arrow and then swapped to the blemish limbs and shot them through the chrono with the same arrow.
Original limbs with 420 gr arrow was 321 FPS.
Blemish limbs with 420 gr arrow was 325 FPS.
As you can see they were extremely close. I was amazed after all that changing limbs the bow was still dead on and I didn't have to make a scope adjustment. Everything just fell into place and the bow shot as good as always. It's nice to know in the field I can change them in just a short time and be hunting again.
My Prochrono always read on the slow side (compared to online IBO calculators and other peoples results with similar equipment) so the bow is probably a little faster than what I posted. I will be ordering the SS fastener kit because the stock hardware is not too good.

Looks like you got it dialed in now, and are ready in case an issue develops. You should not miss a hunting opportunity anytime soon!

Can you tell that the blemished limbs are blemished?

That's a great test to do just for the peace of mind. Good job. I have a spare set of blemished limbs for each of my four excals and can't tell they're blemished.

Some of my honed Boy Scout skills bleed over into my hunting enthusiasm and each and every time I enter the woods I hunt "PREPARED".
Having back up limbs in case something might happen is certainly one area of preparedness taught to me as a Boy Scout youngster.
My wife has said that I haul too much stuff around but after many years and now she gets it!
Lunghit gets it too

Re: A little experiment with original limbs vs blemish
Good and informative post!
I have yet to see any blemishes in the limbs.

Re: A little experiment with original limbs vs blemish
The only blemish I noticed was there was missing camo finish in one string groove. With the string on you can't see it at all. I wouldn't even call it a blemish lol.

Nice picture, but i don't see a special thing about your bow / limbs.
You're wearing camouflage in combination with bright orange?

Sorry.. I was just fun'in... Blemished limb-sets are factory new, limb sets that recieved budget class paint jobs... so that means you can buy them from the factory to have as emergency spares.. with a nice price break.Troubleshooter wrote:Nice picture, but i don't see a special thing about your bow / limbs.
Re: A little experiment with original limbs vs blemish
Last week i had to switch to my blemish limbs for my Micro 355, because I had a limb issue. Yesterday i was on the shooting range and i was a little bit confused. The cocking feels harder than the first limbs and my point of impact was ~ 8 inch higher than normal @55yards. My scope was adjusted perfect and all screws was/are tight.
Any ideas?

Sounds like you got some stiffer limbs. It would be interesting to see how much faster they are. Can you chrono the bow and post the results?Dominic wrote:Last week i had to switch to my blemish limbs for my Micro 355, because I had a limb issue. I can chrono them in 3 weeks at a meeting with other excalibur junkies . I will post the results.
Thank you!

Did you keep the brace hieght the same when you switched limbs? That is about only thing I can think of that could account for 8" difference as that is a lot. That would also impact how tough it is to cock as well.
