Post by MADMAX2 »

In wmu's with a fall hunt we now get a month to arrow a bird! :D :D :D

you are right about the tag, if I buy a tag for that year, I should be able to use it anytime that year during the spring or fall season

Not a hope in hades that the govt would decrease a fee. ( re-using a tag) As a matter of fact I can almost guarantee that the extra hunt time will result in a steep increase.

Makes no sense that the spring tag wouldn't be good in the fall if you don't fill it....coloured me surprised!! :(

I have hunted turkeys in 14 states and provinces and of those only 3 allowed you to use the tags in either season with a couple restrictions.

Of course it's a cash grab. The facts speak for themselves. For instance if you hunt deer, all you need is a deer licence and tag, since it is considered a "big game". However, with turkeys you not only need a turkey tag/licence, but also a small game licence.

I guess the MNR can't decide if it's a small or big game animal. :? yeah right, it's their sneeky way of upping the price to big game levels.

Good turkey hunters need to buy another tag for fall anyways  Perhaps we could suggest a fall turkey/deer combo tag for few more $$ onto deer tag - many states do it this way.

It's great for avid bird hunters who are not pinching pennies for a much longer season in the turkey woods.Tag prices are a small price to pay for a longer fall season.I put 2 toms down every spring and have no issues with the fall tag being seperate and having to be purchased.

It would be great if #7 shot was included to be legal shot going forward as well.

[quote="It would be great if #7 shot was included to be legal shot going forward as well.

he MNRF is also proposing to make April 25 the universal opening day of the spring season, regardless of which day of the week it falls on and giving consideration to allowing shot size number 7 for wild turkey – in addition to 4, 5 and 6. The will also clarify minimum bow requirements for hunting wild turkey in the hunting regulations.
