So just how good is the Matrix 350 SE ?

Post by L. E. Carroll »

I have been hoping for a good deal or trade for Micro a 355. Even to the point that I sold my Matrix 355 to make it happen.

So far I have struck out. :P
Yesterday the like new ( never hunted with ) Matrix 350 SE came up in the Trading Post with a set of D.M. Baby bumpers and cheek rest. at only $550 to my door.

I have always wanted a bow with full camo and really like that pattern. Long story short, it was priced so well that I "pulled the plug on it" minus the Deadzone, Diablos, and quiver mount resulting in what I feel is a very good, somewhat lower price. ...
I have a Leupold Crossbones and camo Munch mount on hand.

So how good are they ?
Does Excal plan on keeping limbs on hand with this camo patten if needed?
Finally, what kind of performance can I expect from it.

Thanks for any input. :D

The 350 is superior to the Matrix 355 Gene.
Full camo and shoots a tad faster too. And yes they should have the limbs for warranty purposes.

I wonder if those replacement limbs will be the older left over 405 limbs or if they will continue that pattern with the new production limbs ?

Oh it's a shooter all right. Have approx 1500 shots on mine in less than a year without a hitch . Obviously can't answer other concerns bout limbs but hopefully Excal has done the right thing and will do the right thing if the need arises.

Gene, I honestly can't see how you won't be happy with your 350!! With the all camo rail, it looks great! The mots camo is my favorite hands down!

All that aside it shoots like any other Excalibur!! Mine is my favorite bow!! Just have to avoid looking at the new raid, then it should stay that way!!! Lol!!

Gene i think the 355 is about the perfect Matrix. if they bullpupped it it would be the best seller. as far as the 350 goes i say the 355 is nicer but im also a big fan of non painted rails. i like the anodize rails. that being said the 2 sellers on Ebay selling them for way less than a 355 (548-9$) makes it tempting. they will always be a chopped Matrix 405 to me. a SAD reminder of a once great crossbow. the thing i question is where the heck are all of these 350 le-s coming from. the sellers seam to have limitless stock. there cant be that many old 405-s around :?: there even a seller on ebay saying they have the last batch of 2016 Mega 405-s . they claim they got the final run of them. this makes me think the 350-les might not be all chopped 405-s  maybe Excalibur is taking all there laying around b stock parts and camo dipping them into these 350 le models. kinda like the special parts crossbows theyve had through the last recent years like the brown bear Exomax models and the all black Matrix models. just a hunch  good luck with the model you choose. ive gone Micro and for hunting is a very nice tool.

I think the 350LE is a great Xbow . The limb mounting, balance, etc are just great! That written, the M405 is, for me, the ultimate Excalibur xbow.
I prefer the Matrix to the Micro. I'm planning on getting one to go with my aging stock.
I don't think you'll regret getting the 350: it has a wonderful feel. Much like having the perfect balance.

Gene, I think you'll love it as it's just another matrix bow. All this talk of old parts, B parts, old limbs....NONSENSE! All the matrix series use the exact same limbs regardless of color or camo pattern they're all the same limbs. The 330 and the 405 limbs are the same. Likewise, the rails are all the same with the exception of length which determines if you've got a 350 or 380 or 330. So, even if a rail was from a discontinued model that makes absolutely no difference. I've never heard of a rail failing or being compromised. Enjoy your new bow. I'm sure it will be as accurate as the shooter allows.

Gene, have you considered waiting by your mailbox wearing a red robe? UPSMAN had great success with that tactic a couple years ago.

 not questioning the function. im sure by now everyone knows there aint much science to any of these models. what i would wanna know though is if they took old parts and painted them to make a new model. if you took a returned or blemished item anywhere and threw a new coat of paint on it then its not new.i think Excalibur is shooting themselves in the foot by offering these altered crossbows. why would anyone buy a brand new 330-355 Matrix for hundred or 2 more when they can have a chopped 405 for cheap. :?: the ebay sellers will sell out and then back in stock few days later. they never run out of them  . they gotta be coming from the factory.

I believe they took any remaining stock and made the necessary changes which I think is fine. I doubt they're recycling mainframes. I think a simple change in a cnc machine will give the exact specs they want in a given line of bows. Just my opinion. If you think you've been cheated though you should bring up any concerns with Excalibur.
