scope covers

Post by ihavethetools »

Those of you that use scope covers, what is your favorite ? I'm not sure I like the amber ones that came with my Hawke SB1 SR. Do you favor flip style or bikini style ? Can't wait for the "bikini" comments !

My favorite all time scope covers are Luepold specific. The alumina flip up covers.

No bikinis for me, I refuse to wax my scope but I hear Sproul waxes his limbs and I was unfortunate enough to see that Gaston doesn't wax his orange

I'd buy a Leupold just to put Alumina caps on it and I would throw a neoprene cover on it just for good measure, but that's just me.

My Crossbones wears a set of Michaels flip-up covers and they work very well... But I much prefer the alluminum screw in ones that come standard on the Hawke XR30 Sr Pros.

Keep in mind, that you can not see thru either type I listed.

....the fact you cant see through them is a plus not a negative...after all if you want to see through the covers in order to shoot....why would you have covers on there anyway? :? ....just saying!

Anthony,

Out here in the Pacific NW where it rains so much, I have those covers on to keep the rain off of my lenses as it can be hard to get when down in the deeper recess of the scope where the lense is located, especially at the frnt lense.. I also try not to dry them with shirt tail or clothing as I fear scratching my lense.

I have had clear covers ( cheap ones, usually yellow on the shooters end ) on some 22's that you can see thru... Under quick shooting conditions they aloow a quick shot without flipping or removing scope covers. On this type of clear plastic cover I seldom worry about scratching them if I have to wipe off rain as the are cheaply replaced I could imagine there are some with crossbows who do likewise.

What are bikini style scope covers? Are they the ones with the elastic between the two covers? If so, they are the kind I like best with see=through yellow lenses.
