Why do you ask, are you looking to have someone call in your turkeys?

Don, that is a loaded question and what in your opinion qualifies as "pretty good".

I used to think I was good (but I know there are many better then me) as it was my favorite way to call turkeys. I used to love having "arguments" with the area boss hen. Has been years since I even handled my turkey calls.

I did enjoy calling in birds for others, actually enjoyed it more then killing them.

I heard it said once " That he thought that a person needs at least 100 birds to his credit then maybe he has started to scratch the surface of knowledge of harvesting turkeys " . :)
Just when you think you have it figured out they change the game plan .

I have always told people, when hunting turkeys, what worked today might bust you tomorrow and what busted you today, might be perfect tomorrow. And people refer to them as stupid LOL.

For years all I ever used was a slate or glass pot, called in a lot of birds with them. I found after loosing more strikers year after year that the diaphram was way to go. Now all I carry is two diaphragms.

When I use my slate call turkeys can't resist.. :)
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.

Not from Ontario but pretty good. Now my secret.
Call for 15 to 20 seconds then sit for 40 minutes. If you haven't got one by then - repeat. I'd say 90% of turkeys will come in silent. Then you always have the one playboy.

X-2 on the sit and wait. More birds are lost to over calling than staying quite.
I have killed many by getting their attention and putting down the call and waiting. Most just show up silent but not all.
