Nocks??

Post by mreyner »

Ok, know Excalibur recommends flat nocks on arrows. However have seen posts stating use of capture, moon nocks etc. HAVE AN OPINION? :?:

Some arrow combo's work very well usin all the above nock types. My Voodoo Queen shoots D2 nocks very well, plus it doesn't slip/slide down the rail nor come unseated causin a partial dryfire. Its great when usin a scope mt that doesn't have a ADF set-up. The other plus when goin that route is the capture nock is nocked on the servin n won't be a dryfire either

Nothing wrong with moon or capture nocks, as long as they fit.
The center of the string should line up with the center of the moon nock. Problem is, none of them do. So 2 issues with moon nocks. They tend to make the front of the arrow lift sooner than if you use a flat nock and if you index the nock incorrectly, you gonna be sorry  .
Capture nocks are nice in that if you know from the click that you are indexed properly. Aligning centers is another story. Most capture nocks I've seen will slightly raise the string from the deck, reducing serving wear until the nocks wear down. But they will not cause the arrow to lift sooner. A capture nock has to be size with your center serving so that the nock can freely slide. I think capture nocks might be a good way for Excalibur to go in order to reduce the incidences of semi-dryfires.

Just for information. Had a partial dry fire do to "bad indexing" on my part. That is why I am getting away from compound xbow.

Just put calipers on my Vixenmaster string serving. Great string BTW. It measured 0.165.5 so the Firenock D2 should work well, correct ? 1st time using Firenocks and am trying to decide between the flat or the D2's. Any thought's would be appreciated.

It should fit fine. If you go to the Firenock web page it states that the D2 is the proper nock for Excaliburs.
