Difference string

Post by Troubleshooter »

The Matrix strings were first grey and now they are blue. (Nice color by the way)

Is there a difference between these two?

- Do they shoot faster?
- Is there less stretch in it? (the old strings had a lot of stretch)

Thanks for your information!

Gray is Rhino and blue is Dynaflight.
I did some testing this weekend for Danny Miller involving over 60 shots, then 600 lbs of tension and 90c degrees of heat until the string length stopped changing.
The difference was that Dynaflight crept very slightly more to give 1/64th of an inch in brace height. That much difference is insignificant. Dynaflight was 2 ft/sec slower out of a 355 Micro using a 396 gr arrow.

Thanks for your information! If I understand this the right way (I'm from Holland, so forgive me if I understand you wrong.) the blue string has a little less stretch and a little less speed, compared with the grey string. Is that right?

Creep is a permanent dimentional change (in this case elongation)of an object. So the blue string that is made from Dynaflight, creeps more. BUT, the difference is insignificant. The gray string is very slightly faster.
The reality is that there is no difference between the strings.

I just ordered a new string from Danny and he told me he was now using Rhino.

It seemed to me the that new strings I had gotten were not stretching quite as much as before.

Maybe they're just not stretching as FAST???

What do you think about Rhino as an overall string material??

Is there any way I could tell Rhino from other materials like Dynaflight by just looking at or handling?

I can't ! Both are about the same diameter . Dan and I have used the Rhino material several years and like it alot . Dynaflight and Rhino both are great string material if you stretch it slowly and remove the excessive wax during the build .

I can't tell the difference. At 28 strands, there is no difference in the way the string acts. I believe there is a 2% difference in creep when forces are applied upon one single stand. But when the strand count gets to 26/28, creeps is a moot point.
While I understand that some of you guys are keenly interested, between Rhino and Dynaflight, it's really a insignificant difference. They are really very similar in all aspects when a high strand count is involved.

Any issues not being to see twists?

Rule of thumb, one twist every two inches, again just a recommendation. I like about 1.5" personally for crossbow strings.
