My alternative to banding

Post by longbow joe »

  Image[/URL]l wanted to share the way l have been "banding" my cabellas lazer strike 2s. These broadheads are rated for 4oo fps and my fastest bow is a 355 l have never had a problem with the o ring at all in the past but as a precaution l have been putting a micro dollip of clear rtv silicone on the front of the blades. I have actually shot numerous skunks n critters in the yard and got full deployment even with the 260 fps vixen. As said only a dollip not gluing to oblivia. My friend shoots the combo with a 405 no issues. Just wanted to share if you were interested.

Great idea! However, the entire idea that arrow speed is what causes premature opening is totally bogus. It's the rate of acceleration. Most recurve xbows have greater acceleration rates than even the fastest compounds. Putting speed #s on broadheads by manufacturers likely helps sell broadheads but is meaningless.

I here you .Thats the whole idea of the extra glue . Im with you in thinking the 400 fps is over rated and i need a little more.lt cant hurt to have a little more as long as the thing still reliability opens.
