MIDWAY USA-THANKS FOR NOTHING!

Post by paulaboutform »

As per Derrick's recent post about the great Rhinehart sale at Midway USA, I tried to order online and ship to my American address. Couldn't do it because the billing and shipping address don't match. I added my American address as an alternate address through my visa but Brittany at Midway told me that the card is billed in Canada and they won't accept it! So there you go. Midway is apparently doing so well they don't want our U.S. dollars from Canada and I'm more than happy to oblige. I'll never spend a dime with them and encourage others to oblige them as well. I have a U.S. address because I do a lot of business with American companies and I'm happy to do so. I go out of my way to shop North American. Midway, you SUCK! ....keep in mind, I may be a small fish but enough small fish can and do affect your bottom line. Thanks for the education, I'm happy to spend my $$$ elsewhere.

Paul,

Sorry to hear of those problems.

Perhaps you could contact a US based forum member who is coming to Boofest and have them get it for you and bring along??

(BTW, I'm not sure yet if I can attend Boofest but if I were, I would be happy to do so for you).

I did exactly this and had no problem at all. Shipping was $13 for my Rhinehart and it delivered in 3 business days. I'm sorry you had a $hi++y experience, Paul.

This is case with many US retailers. It is because they do not have the required permits for products to go across border and the regulations state that if they know the end destination is Canada and they don't have permits they are guilty. One cannot blame them for not wanting to violate laws. Yes it is frustrating for sure. I've been there number of times, once needed three screws to fix a gun part. The only place I could get them was direct from maker in Arizona. I tried to order them, once they figured it was destined for Canada no go. Tried a few days later to order and ship to Florida address of friend no go. They had no Canadian distributor and the guy said once he knew where they were going he could not help me - 3 screws! A buddy finally had Sinclair order them in for him and he mailed them to me.

The Canadian Company selling the Vortex XBRs the other day would not ship to the USA either. It works both ways.

I have my American address verified with my credit cards (20 + years), never had an issue. I believe that companies are not protected from fraud if they choose to ship to a different address then what is on the card. Call your credit card company and have your US address added to card, tell them to always bill the Canadian address. As someone once said "easy peasy"

Paul i had the same experience with them as you when buying some hard to find firearm accessories in canada.
My moms man had to use his us credit card in the end but havent went back as a repeat customer since two years ago.
Robert as far as scopes its a permit needed...m same as sending north they wont do it. Only one retailer I know will and he knows the risk without the permit.

That's because of U.S. Homeland Security. It's illegal on the American side.

I happen to love Midway when they run specials.....however they do kill you on shipping....In today's day and age they really need to get with the program as far as their shipping goes....

Wrong. It is illegal to ship FROM USA to Canada. Legal from Canada to USA. :)
