Micro 335 or Bulldog 380

Post by Neckknife »

Ok guys, I'm looking to replace my micro 335 with a bulldog 380 but I'm concerned about the draw weight.I'm about at my limit with the 335 but if I can get better performance for roughly the same effort I may make a change.Any suggestions?

I haven't tested the bulldog but I do have a Matrix 380 and have cocked the micro 335 and have found the micro harder to draw than the 380. I'm 6' tall and that's my impression. Assuming the bulldog 380 is as easy to draw as the matrix, that's what I'd go with. That's my .02

BD380 is certainly easier to rope cock than the micro 335

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy my BD380 is to cock. I went from an Axiom & the difference was not near as bad as I was expecting.

I consider my BD400 slightly easier to cock than a Gen 1 Micro 335.

This weekend, I picked up my first crossbow, a Bulldog 380. Though I haven't taken it out or even sighted it in yet, I did get to try it at the dealer's indoor range to get a feel for it. When I walked into the store, my intention was to buy the Micro 355. But after trying both, the Bulldog felt more balanced. I suppose that the advantage of the bullpup stock design. If I had a few hundred dollars more to spend, I might have sprung for the Micro Suppressor, which has a bullpup stock, but I wanted to save those dollars for other stuff. The adjustable quiver is also a nice touch. Can't wait to get it sighted in and start practising!

I don't know if there are still any available as they where a limited production run model Excal ? But having a Micro 335, and a Matrix380 as well as my new Matrix 350 SE (which where available for about $540 brand new as a "Light Package" not very long ago ) I'm definately finding myself picking it up way more than either the 335 or 380.

She's faster than the micro. IMO, better looking with the "Full Coverage" MOTS camo pattern than my "Real Tree Extra" 380, while being way easier to draw than either of those two. Personally I think she handles ( ballances ) better than my 380, while being only slightly slower with the same brand, weight and length arrows.

If I had to cut down to only 1 X-bow  It would be the 350 SE I'd be holding on to. :She's plenty fast and having a draw weight of only 240# I expect to never suffer a limb issue.D

Thought that was the case with my 350. I did get 2800 shots on first set of limbs in a years time . She started splintering so I sent it to Danny M. who promptly set me up with new limbs and replaced the old limb hardware with the style that has the gaps where they are bolted and within 40 shots I got a splinter developing on a limb. Still shootin it for now and have 200 shots on that splinter but it's growin ; so I'm sure it's goin back to Danny soon. Hate to be the myth buster.

Pictures please. This is the first I have heard of a 350 limb splinter.

Because:
  • I prefer the fit of the bullpup stock,
  • I like the 5-arrow X-Hanger quiver,
  • I got it for a good price.

My 350 SE came with the up-graded limb mounting hardware... and so far flawless performance and reliability after aprox 250 shots. ( have only had it a short time ) :D

I have also owned a Matrix 355, which was an awesome bow and is pictured in my avatar with the 4x4 Bull it helped put on the ground in 2015. It was truly a great bow which I sold while trying to get $ together for a Micro 355... That did not happen, but then this 350 SE with it's full camo came up for sale and I jumped all over it !! No Regrets At All.
