I had one on a .22 once and it was fine...I wouldn't put one on a centrefire rifle though. I don't know how it would stand up to the recoil.
Also - a crossbow scope has very large adjustment increments because it is designed for short ranges. The increment is like 1/2" per click at 20 yards for example. That's 2.5" at 100 yards!
Most riflescopes are 1/4" per click at 100 yards.
You need the micro-adjustable scope on a rifle.
