Bow Bull Moose Tag

Post by way123hockey »

Received a tag for a Bull Moose in area 48. Bow only season. Lots of planning to do now. Looking forward to it. Also have to decide between the Matrix 355 and the Stryker Katana 385.

Congrats on being drawn. Both bows are certainly sufficient to do their job effectively. I'm assuming you're driving into moose camp and if that's the case I'd bring both bows rigged up and ready for action. Better to have an extra and not need it.

I see in your signature that you have a Matrix 380 :D

Is there any reason to choose either of the ones you mentioned over the 380 :?: ..... I too have similar bows, but would definately choose my Matrix 380 for a Moose should I ever get to hunt one, even though my Matrix 355 did a "Bang Up Job" at aprox 40 yards on a nice 4x4 bull elk in 2015.

I'm thinking speed of the Stryker Katana 385 with the dependability of the Matrix models all combined in one Fine Hunting Model.

That's odd Terry. We all got our tags in the mail yesterday. The results should be available.

I don't have the right scope yet for my 380 so I haven't been shooting it. I use the 355 all the time so I am more comfortable with it.

Good luck to you. I have been using Big John's Zombie Slayers with Slick Trick Nuke expandables for deer and bear but I'm not 100% sure what I will be using for moose.

Well, last week was our moose hunt and it was short but sweet. We saw one deer and no moose on Monday and 4 moose on Tuesday. Just before end of shooting light on Tuesday I had a small bull walk past just out of range. At almost the same time my buddy had this guy come right in to his call. Was a long night of work after the shot but well worth it. He shot it with an excalibur matrix 330 and 100 grain muzzy.
